Quick buzz, buddy? Hot towel, sir? How about a good lather, while seated in some old leather, followed by a daringly close shave by a straight razor? Reclined in a room alive with the conversation of friends both old and new. These were all things we had the chance of experiencing, after making our way to visit our friends at the

Barbeer Shop for a cut & shave. Reviving the all but lost art form of a traditional barbershop, even serving us a ‘cold one’ at the bar afterward. Timing seemed perfect for a visit, what with elections and propositions on the minds of millions that morning. It was a chance to rest our burdens even if for a moment, at the feet and ears of our easy listening

barbers. Taking in the sounds of classic American music and the sight of modern people with a love for timeless style and craftsmanship. The song “Crew Cut” in particular running through our heads and onto Jon’s head. Did we just take a trip back in time? We must have, yeah. Just imagine, the good ol’ razor days.

Imperial, a grassroots company based here in LA. The only hair product we trust really”, Kevin our barber mentioned as he buzzed away.

“I got a crew cut, baby.” Local surf pop band Tijuana Panthers know all about cool hairdos.

Masters of Craft.

But that common bond is where we must begin. Our economy is recovering. A decade of war is ending. A long campaign is now over. And whether I earned your vote or not, I have listened to you. I have learned from you. And you’ve made me a better president. And with your stories and your struggles, I return to the White House more determined and more inspired than ever about the work there is to do and the future that lies ahead. Tonight you voted for action, not politics as usual. You elected us to focus on your jobs, not ours.                                                                                                       – President Obama During His 2012 Victory Speech

A toast to new friends at the Barbeer Shop.

There is nothing more American than a traditional barbershop, run by skilled artisans, and with music of a timeless theme. The clothing and election coverage is very FDR and further resonates the symbols and themes of our country; evoking a sense of past and present. Sadly, traditional barbershops are a dying breed. My only hope is that we continue to be patrons to these establishments to not only get a perfect cut, but to give credit to those who have spent years perfecting their skills.

Once again, your writing is grand; and Thom’s photography, as always, is spot on.

Simply put: a job well done, gents. A job well done.

Finally got a chance to check out the site. These posts are pretty interesting. Where are all of the older ones? BTW…I like the tumblr/insight/instagram flow. Good luck with the Re-Brand!
